About Steven Oberman

Steve Oberman has been practicing in the field of criminal defense, with an emphasis on DUI defense, since 1980. Steve has successfully represented over two thousand clients charged with DUI. He is the author of DUI: The Crime & Consequences in Tennessee, a West Publishing Company text widely relied upon by judges, prosecutors and defense lawyers throughout Tennessee. Additionally, Steve is co-author with Lawrence Taylor of the Aspen Publisher’s text, Drunk Driving Defense, 7th edition. Steve has taught thousands of lawyers about DUI defense at seminars in over 30 different states, England, Mexico and Canada.

Steve is a former Dean of the National College for DUI Defense and has been chair or co-chair of the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers’ DUI Committee since 1995. Moreover, Steve has served as an adjunct professor at the University of Tennessee Law School since 1993 and has received prestigious awards for his faculty contributions.
